Chick-fil-A blasted for ‘bowing to PC warriors’ by scrapping donations to Christian charities like Salvation A – The Sun

CHICK-fil-A has been accused of “bowing to PC warriors” after they stopped donating to some Christian charities.

The affected included Salvation Army and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, after allegations of them being anti-LGBTQ.

The fast food chain will donate its $32million (£24.7m) to organisations working in “education, homelessness and hunger” in 2020.

They revealed the news in a press release and added they would “deepen its giving to a smaller number of organisations”.

Some have interpreted the move as a step away from Christian organisations in a bid to gain LGBTQ support.

Previously the group boycotted the restaurants over allegations that some Chick-fil-A charities supported gay conversion therapy.

In previous comments the Salvation Army and Fellowship of Christian Athletes refuted the claims.

Bow down before the lords of political correctness

Ben Shapiro, Editor-in-Chief of the Daily Wire

Commentators including Ben Shapiro, editor in chief of the Daily Wire, called Chick-fil-A’s move “idiotic”.

Once you give an inch to the left with regard to your fundamental principles, the left will never stop,” he told Fox News.

Shapiro accused them of deciding to “bow down before the lords of political correctness.”

He added that to cut funding due to their opposition to same-sex marriage was “pretty astonishing” and “a horrible sign for our culture.”

Organisations, like Focus on the Family, which exist purely to harm LGBTQ people and families.

Drew Anderson, GLAAD’s Director of Campaigns

Drew Anderson, a director of the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD), said that “further transparency” was needed from the company.

This included information about their support and “deep ties” to other organisations like Focus on the Family.

Anderson claimed that the group “exists purely to harm LGBTQ people and families.”

On Facebook, many people appeared despondent and disinterested by Chick-fil-A’s announcement.

One user wrote: “It’s too late. We all know who they are and what they believe.”

I wouldn’t eat Chick-fil-A if it were free and while I’m at it Hobby Lobby can keep their hate-filled, sparkly, ‘inspirational’ garbage as well,” another added.

‘MASSIVE BULLIES’

Chadwick Moore, a conservative commentator, who is Christian and a gay male, criticised the LGBTQ community itself.

He told Fox News: “The big gay, the massive LGBT industrial complex are massive bullies they do not remotely represent the individuals they purport to.”

Moore accused them of being a “machine for democratic policies” as well as being “anti-christian, anti-west and anti-wealth”.

He felt the true victims were “Salvation Army and the poor people they help on a daily basis.”

The free market economy boycotted Chick-fil-A and forced them to make that decision on their own.

Jennifer Holdsworth, a Democratic Strategist

But Jennifer Holdsworth, a democratic strategist, alleged that in both New York and San Francisco the charity refused to operate.

She claimed it was because the “governments won’t allow them to discriminate against LGBTQ community members”.

“The are a lot of organisations that they supported who believe in gay conversion therapy.

“That’s a form of discrimination and beyond,” Holdsworth added.

She also explained her surprise that conservatives weren’t supportive of this decision as it “proved the free market worked”.

Holdsworth said: “Instead of the government regulating what Chick-fil-A had to do, the free market economy boycotted Chick-fil-A and forced them to make that decision on their own.”

Moore initially stated that Chick-fil-A’s decision was a “terrible mistake… as these people will never buy their product”.

He believed they had the best brand loyalty of any fast food restaurant or chain because they “refused to bow down to these bullies”.
