Microsoft reveals ‘Sport Red’ Xbox One controller – Gadgets Now

Tech giant Microsoft has revealed a new Xbox One controller in an Xbox broadcast. The new controller is the second in the company’s Sports series style of Xbox One controllers. Called the Sport Red Special Edition, the controller is, as the name goes, red in colour.The Sport Red controller is slated to launch across the world on March 5. It will be priced at $70 (about Rs 4,982) in the US while the pricing across other country markets has not been announced as of now.

The new Xbox One controller features metallic accents and rubberized diamond grip. It has got custom button mapping and users can plug in any compatible headset with the 3.5mm stereo headset jack. The company says that users will be able to play their favourite titles on Windows 10 PCs and tablets with this Bluetooth-powered controller.

The new Xbox controller boasts of responsive thumbsticks, Impulse Triggers and an enhanced D-pad.

A matching Pro charging stand also will be made available to the customers. The charging stand features a 6-foot cable and is poised to launch on May 1 in North America for $50. The availability of the Sport Red Pro charging stand in other countries has not been announced by the company yet.

Microsoft to expand Xbox Live service to iOS, Android and Nintendo Switch

Microsoft is also gearing up to launch a software development kit (SDK) for cross-platform gaming. This kit can be used by game developers to integrate Xbox Live into any game across platforms like iOS, Android and Nintendo Switch besides Xbox and PC. As per Windows Central, the company will be making the official announcement about the new development kit next month.

Apart from a few iOS and Android titles, many do not come with Xbox Live Achievements yet. Only the titles from Microsoft Studios have got the Achievements till now. Keeping this in view, Microsoft is planning to expand Xbox Live across other platforms to augment its the Xbox Live user base. According to a GDC listing, Xbox Live is set to expand from 400 million gaming devices and from over 68 million active players to over 2 billion devices following the launch of the cross-platform XDK.
