Today, Bethesda released Rage 2 to Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC owners. The game is a first-person shooter which takes place in a post-apocalyptic future. Following a catastrophic asteroid impact, Earth is in ruin and many individuals are put into underground hibernation. Unfortunately, events don’t go according to plan and the surface is overrun by mutants and an oppressive organization known as “The Authority.” It’s up to you to liberate the region and dismantle the oppressive regime once and for all.
The game starts at $60, but there’s also an $80 version which includes a lot of bonus content and the first expansion. Rage 2 will receive another expansion after that, but it seems like that’s a standalone purchase for all editions.
Unlike a lot of games on Xbox One X, Rage 2 only renders at 1080p and 60 frames per second (FPS). While it would’ve been nice to experience it at 4K resolution, the frantic action requires a high frame rate to make the gameplay feel precise.
