A woman who was tired of waking up with a puffy face in the morning has praised a jade roller and gua sha set for eliminating her under eye bags in just five minutes.
The woman, who is from New York, posted about her miraculous discovery in an Australian makeup group on Facebook, with many of the commenters excited by her discovery.
‘Does anyone else use a jade roller to de-puff their face in the morning? I can’t believe it actually works. This is after five minutes of rolling,’ she said, sharing a transformation photo alongside her comment.

The difference was immediately obvious, with the woman’s face appearing slimmer and less tired in the ‘after’ version.
‘Are you for real!? How isn’t this a massive thing!? You are gorgeous by the way. But this is NEXT LEVEL,’ one person said.
‘Literally went on eBay and got one,’ said another.

What are some of the benefits of jade rolling?
* Improved skin tone and elasticity of the skin
* Reduction of puffiness and wrinkles
* Promotion of lymphatic drainage
* Tightening pores due to the cold temperature of the jade
* Revitalised complexion due to increased blood circulation
* A ‘brighter’ appearance
A third added: ‘I keep mine in a zip lock bag in my fridge. Using it cold has heaps more of an affect on healing, de-puffing and circulation. It also feels really nice.’
While the post seemed to have plenty of women reaching for their wallets, one woman was sceptical about the benefits.
‘Isn’t it just massaging the face that’s doing the de-puffing – not the fact it’s a jade stone?,’ she said.
Skin experts are at odds over whether using jade or rose quartz is actually the reason your face de-puffs and begins to glow, instead believing it is merely the massaging and cooling effect of the stone.

Do jade rollers actually work?
If you’re looking to decrease puffiness on your face, yes it can.
The natural cold temperature of the stone helps to tighten the skin by constricting blood vessels, which in turn reduces the puffiness.
It also doesn’t spread bacteria, which is particularly good for those suffering from acne.
Other claims about it being a wrinkle-remover and promoter of collagen haven’t been proven by science.
LED lights and facial peels are some of the only ways to reduce wrinkles.
‘Basically what happens with the lymphatic system is, as you talk, use your muscles for facial expression, chew and speak, the muscles contract – and with that contraction the lymphatic fluid is pumped back towards the heart and away from the skin,’ Dermatologist Dr Ritu Gupta told Mamamia.
‘If people drink a lot of alcohol, if they don’t get enough sleep or have naturally poor lymphatic drainage, for those people [lymphatic massage with crystal tools] could be of very minor benefit – but for the average person with a normal skin circulation it’s not proven.’
Celebrity esthetician Renée Rouleau agreed, saying that there is a specific way to promote lymphatic drainage to the face and a jade roller doesn’t have the right contours to master it, Byrdie reported.

It will require at least 30 minutes each day to see any positive changes with this product, which you can find for as little as $15 on Amazon.
What the jade roller can do is massage the delicate skin on your face to increase circulation and help bring fresh blood to the surface and nutrients to the skin cells.

It’s a practice that has been followed since the early adopters of Chinese medicine who believe the jade stone is a natural ‘healer’ and a good luck charm.
Its non-porous texture means that it won’t spread bacteria across the face and its natural coldness works wonders on the under eye area.
If you don’t have a jade roller a frozen cold spoon operates in the same way.
The freezing temperature helps to tighten the skin by constricting blood vessels and reducing puffiness.
